THING 23 FINALE

23 Things was very interesting to see all of the new technologies that are available to anyone who has access to a computer. Maryland Libraries Learning 2.0 taught me alot about new growing trends in the libraries. Just setting up a blog and being able to add information each time I learned something new is amazing to me. I learned a little about Flickr, RSS feeds, image generators,LibraryThing, Rollyo, Del.icio.us, Technorati, wikis , YouTube's and NetLibrary. When a patron comes in and asks about these I can say I have heard of them. The library system is moving forward ,and with all the new technology out there we each have to learn new discoveries each day, and with 23 Things I feel I have moved ahead .
The only draw back I see with the program was TIME, it took more than 15 minutes a day, more like one hour.

THING 22 DOWNLOADABLE AUDIOBOOKS

I went into Project Gutenburg and found most of the books to download were mostly classics. This would be ideal for high school students needing to read the classics and not being able to find a copy at their library, they could just download the book and listen! NetLibrary I liked because they did have some current titles, but I didn't want to sign up again. The directions to download were easy.

Thing 21 podcasts

This is really interesting, it's like having your talk radio on all the time. The yahoo podcast seems very easy to use. Npr books seems like a good site.

Podcasting might be something the library could do with our new books, have patrons discuss their favorite books.

Thing 20 youtube

I liked this site, enjoyed looking at video's. The library domino was neat, someone must have a lot of time on their hands.

http://www.yelp.com/pittsburgh-pa this site was easy to use if your going on a trip and need some quick fun places to see and do, like resturants.

Thing 18 Google Docs & Spreadsheets

Looking at some productivity tools Google Docs & Spreadsheets. This was hard for me because I don't use excel, so I just made up a short list of ez books ordered for August. I hope this works ! I should be able to go back into this site and up date.

THING 17 SANDBOX WIKI

This site is neat, not hard to use.

Thing 16 wiki's

I liked some of the wiki's other libraries used. I liked the booklovers wiki http://booklovers.pbwiki.com/Princeton%20Public%20Library, I thought this was a very nice way to find books by subject, very helpful.
I liked the Bull Run Library wiki http://bullrunlibrary.pbwiki.com/ , it seemed very easy to use.

Thing 15 Library 2.0

The future of libraries are going very high-tech where you can access the library at home, work, school and anywhere you have a computer. I just hope this next generaton doesn't stop reading and our library will have a 55 % drop in circulation as did the library in the article, if this happens we may be all out of jobs!

THING 14 TECHNORATI

Favorite blogs, top searches and top blogs in Technorati seemed to me to be a lot alike. When I put in "learning 2.0" our "23 things" came up as a blog, which was interesting. The bloggers seem to be young . To tag a site seems to be easily done.

Thing 13 Del.icio.us

Del.icio.us was very informative. It is amazing what can be done if you have the time to play around on the computer. If someone is doing a report they can get a lot of information by using what other people have researched on a certain subject. A good way to use flickr too.

THING 8 RSS Feeds

RSS feeds are very interesting, there is a lot of information out there and this helps you get what information you want and to put it into your own personal blogline in summary.

WEEK 4 71/2 habits

I think I like the #1 habit," Begin with the end in mind", and of course I like PLAY, if I get some time to do that. I'm sure this will be a challenge!

"Using technology to your advantage" will be hard for me because I don't k now a lot about the technology of the computer, but I'm sure I will learn!!
